Gentle melody, more robust dance movements. The story of solo singer Heo Young Saeng with his "SOLO" comeback.  

Idol group SS501 main vocalist Heo Young Saeng, coming back with his 2nd mini-album "SOLO" title track "CRYING" met with enthusiastic public. (In actual fact on 17 Jun SBS Inkigayo was his last comeback stage for his 2nd album promotions)

A Greater Sense of Pressure

"Starting activities after a year, starting anew feeling is becoming stronger. During the mood for the 1st album, there was an empty feeling. But for this time, I really put in so much effort into it. Should really properly complete it, thus a greater sense of pressure."

Specially for this album, he personally did lots of preparation, which part is the toughest, he himself couldnt even remember it. Firstly "it is really extremely tough" with this he started his story.

"For the last album even though I did "meddle" with lot of stuff, but this time to the extent as the producer's name appearing, there is a wider degree of investment of energy done in this album. While doing the album preparation, I was nearly tormented into depression all alone. There are many sole responsiblity which I need to endure."

The exact concept and direction of the album has not even confirmed, and the production of the album has to start. Because of this, from lyrics, costumes, dance choregraphy, MV concept, designing of album jacket, there are too many parts that must consider, examples of the scenarios that he encountered. "Young Saeng ah, what concept does you want your MV to be?" "Young Saeng ah, have you think of the design for you album jacket?"

Regarding the planning or direction for the whole album, during the circumstances where everything is still not yet determined, from start till finish, grasp of the refinement in direction, such as coming up with ideas are all his task and responsiblities. Although all these are the responsiblities of a producer, once you encounter those conditions, you will be at loss and sink into difficulties on what to do. Therefore, after going thru the difficulties for this album, he has also grown a lot, as said, a substantial growth.

"Musical, To Be Honest.. Been Afraid. Acting..."

Before challenging with his acting skills in the sitcom "Sent From Heaven", let's talk about the story of him acting in the musical. Heo Young Saeng musical challenge, as compared with other idol singers, his is coincidently considered as late. Which is the musical of "Three Musketeers" which he participate in during the later part of last year.

"Previously although there are some (musical performance) representations, but surprisingly I do not have the idea of acting. To be honest, I am very afraid."

Even though plucking up his courage, there could become a so-called 'family oppa' and 'the only musical actors that he aware' which he became close with after particpating in a project with Um Ki Jun, Kim Bum Rae, hopping 'that he can feel more at ease'. Especially Shin Sung Woo hyung who is staying at the condo above him who also acted, putting him even more at ease. But in actual fact, during practicing, he have never even see these hyungs.

Continued after his musical during autumn, Heo Young Saeng challenged in the acting field during spring. Idol singer who acting challenge, is already not something new, perhaps it has already become like a "regular sequence". But his acting challenge has a slightly different feel. His image as SS501 main vocalist 'singer' has been embedded too deep, thus when he was challenging acting for the 1st time, there was a 'What?! (Surprise-like)' feeling.

"Earlier I already wanted to act. But everything wasnt every smooth or successful, when I really wanted to act, people around me said 'Really? You really want to act?' Everytime I will be answering the same answer, everyone's reaction was 'Didnt know that you really wanted to act'."

KBS 2TV comedy sitcom "Sent From Heaven", Heo Young Saeng character as a hallyu star KAKI (Young Saeng), trying to have a bad boy image, but somehow or rather his comedic image making everyone laugh while going thru different transformation. In the sitcom, he and Cha NaRa (acted by Woori) forming a love line. 

"Although it is my 1st time challenging acting, but it is very interesting. Of course there alot of regretable parts, it seems like improving gradually, thus I am very happy. Will work even harder."

Although SS501 Attempt To Release An Album Together...

The topic on SS501 is really hard to avoid. Already belonging to different companies, each member busy with their own individual activities, thinking about it, it is really hard for them to gather together.

"Although it is hard to meet up, but we still keep in contact. In fact, we did think abt releasing an album, we even talk abt it, but the conflicting schedules makes it very hard to do so." 

'Conflicting of schedules' Several times, almost in tune, but still could not tie up. In actual fact, Kim Kyu Jong who is in the same company as Heo Young Saeng, is the 1st who decided to get enlist into the military among all the SS501 members, which makes the co-ordination of the 5 members schedule to be even more difficult. During the Kim Kyu Jong fanmeeting which was held on 3 Jun prior to his enlistment, SS501 members all gathered together, proudly showcasing their close friendship. 8 Jun is also the 7th anniversary of SS501 debut.

Usually, other than SS501 members, Heo Young Saeng has a lot of friendship with many other artistes be it the sunbaes or hoobaes, he is very proud of his deep and wide network of contacts. Playing a decision role for his acceptance in challenging the musical, and also the 'only musical actor whom he knows Um Ki Jun, Kim Bum Rae, and also the person while who is obsessed with online game, but also brought him into the reality games (football, basketball, baseball etc), and a good sportsman leader Seo Ji-Seok especially close.  

Recently he and Seo Ji-Seok's celebrity football team "FC Goodie" members also conducted many sports activities, and have become closer to the hoobaes. FT island's Lee HongKi, Oh Won Bin, Infinite's Seong Yeol and Sung Gyu, U-Kiss DongHo etc, during the celebrity football competition, was very happy when he manage to score a goal. Of course it is good, but the real sense has not yet out.

His 2nd album promotions for the domestic market is too short, fans has been voicing out their regrets. His fans can only temporary watch 'Actor Heo Young Saeng' via their TV screen to compensate for their regrets.

Heo Young Saeng will be start his new challenge from this September onwards. He will be releasing his regular album in Japan, and also start his preparation for his solo concert. Please look forward to Singer Heo Young Saeng conquest for the world.

After a lapse of a year the release of his solo album "SOLO", showing realistic experience in his title track "CRYING", different variations in singing, filling up this album. 

After a lapse of a year releasing his 1st solo album "LET IT GO", time unknowingly pass by, venturing out solo from the idol group SS501,there are endless exploring of his personal style, from musical, drama etc, wanting to challenge different variety of areas, accumulating different experience. Now returning back to the familiarity of a "Solo Singer". Thus the 2nd ablum is titled "SOLO" in such a way. Heo Young Saeng is back with his 2nd mini album "SOLO". 

Previously he thought of using this as a theme. Regarding love, he did not really know much, but still he wants to talk about this story in his "SOLO" album. Thus the songs in his "SOLO" album are mostly about separation. Of course this also includes the positive meaning of him coming out from a group to having individual activities.  

Unlike most albums in general, he really puts in a lot of effort into this album. The concept of the album, planning etc all the production he is also involved in, from the collections of the album song, composing, recording, there is nothing that he is not involved in. Thus his name as the co-producer has appear in the album.

"Truthfully, I did participate in the production for my last album. But, my proposal and views for the title track was not being chosen. For this current album I participated in the lyrics composition for the title track."

Title track "Crying" is a mid-tempo R&B song, which tells the inner feelings of a guy who has left. It reflect Heo Young Saeng's experience.

"I totally couldnt come out with the lyrics if I entirely using my imagination. Although I am not in a relationship now, but I was hurt badly before. I used my true feeling to go near the girl who knows my heart yet she make used/fun of me. I suffered a huge trauma after knowing it."

This album is to reflect this objective tendency. Other than the title track "Crying" the other 3 songs are also added with rock elements. Especially the competitor for the title track between "Crying" and "Intimidated", the latter has a more prominent of the powerful melody of the electric guitarand and a strong back singers which you can get a glimpse of.

"Orginally I wanna make a fusion of rock and pop music style. But, after listening to the moving melody of "Crying" at the same time, the title track thus beame an R&B song. Every song have many different method of singing, even though there is no way for this album to be according to the original intent, although there is only 1 singer in this album, but it gives a feel that there are many singers in this album."

The schedules for his album activities are very hectic and tight. KBS2TV daily sitcom "Sent From Heaven" filming is still continuing, the release for his Jap album in September and his 1st solo concert is on-going on planning stage. He has already began to put in the recording operations, revealing that the concert will be like a band concept. But, unfortunately due to all this, he has to missed to particpate in the musical "JACK THE RIPPER". 

"I wanna try what my sunbaes has said the role of a person with split personality, 'JACK THE RIPPER' to me may be a huge help but I have to forgo it. I realised that while acting, I will be learning new things at the same time, which I am very happy to be progressing. This is also the 1st time which I have this kind of feeling, I think that I will be more serious in the future to do all these."

This time he hide his face...

During his last mini album, he used sunglasses to hide his face. This time round, he used part of his fringe to hide 1 of his eyes. On 1st look at the album packaging photos wondering why he wants to hide his face. 

"I will often take note of my facial expressions. If gonna exposed my face, I have to put in more effort in my facial expressions. In order to lessen the effort on that area, I decide to hide part of my face, and to change my hairstyle during the promotional activities. The concept is to show stylish man with clothing and hairstyle all combine into one, not rigidly but showing different kind of images. Thus the cover and MV will cover them up."

Heo Young Saeng had his 1st comeback on Music Bank.


on 1 Jun KBS 2TV Music Bank, Heo Young Saeng performed 2 songs "Intimidated" and his title track "Crying". During his short performance for Intimidated, Heo Young Saeng strong dance displayed his masculine charisma charms. 


Title track "Crying" is a song which brings out Heo Young Saeng sensual voice. Heo Young Saeng showed the strength of his live singing and emotions all combined into one in front of everyone. Further more thru the comeback stage, his mature expressive performance attracted people's attention.

SS501 Heo Young Saeng will be embarking into Japan in August this year.

A representative from the company which Heo Young Saeng belongs to told nocutnews during an interview, "Recently after releasing his 2nd solo mini-album, Heo Young Saeng will be releasing his Japanese album in August and will be holding a solo concert during September this year." Ever since after venturing out solo, this is the 1st time he is embarking into overseas.

The representative stated that they planned to have Heo Young Saeng's newly release Japanese album to contain 10 tracks. Among all the solo songs which Heo Young Saeng has released in the domestic market, they will be choosing 2~3 songs to be re-recorded in Japanese version. Other than that, they are planning a different diversified music styles for the remaining songs.

Prior to this, despite the numerous invitations from overseas, Heo Young Saeng will only consider after he has fully prepare, only then will he meet up with his overseas fans, thus he kept delaying his overseas activities. He is very apologetic to the fans expectations for this year,but being a solo singer, firstly he wants to determine whether he possess a strong personal style.

Currently Heo Young Saeng still have his inadequencies, although having this thoughts, after releasing 2 solo albums in the domestic market, going thru 2 years, he can't possibly reject the invitation from his Japanese fans. Thus he decided to hold a solo concert in Japan during September, showcasing his different style, preparing his new album.

Recently, Heo Young Saeng accepted an interview, he said, "In actual fact after releasing my 1st solo album last year, I did have the intentions to meet with my overseas fans, but there are only so few of my solo songs, with this unprepared circumstances, I really can't meet up with them. To repay the love that I receive from them, by holding an unprepared concert to earn money, I will feel very guilty. Thus I wanna confirm that I am fully prepared before standing on the stage showcasing my music."

He continued, "Of course I am worried that the fans will leave, but I still want to stand on the stage impressively." He also said, "Holding a concert in Japan after releasing my Japanese album, having this idea of carrying this 2 tasks, showcasing more stuff, having a great time, hoping to create the kind of stage where the main theme is music. Wanting to show an enriching music stage."
On the other hand, Heo Young Saeng has released his 2nd mini-album "Solo" on 22 May. This time round, this album revolves on the artiste Heo Young Saeng himself, searching for his own personal music style and the growing stages, album concepts, planning, forming, lyrics compositions etc which he personally gets involved in. There are a total of 5 tracks in the album which included the title track "Crying".

On 23 May, KBS 2TV comedy sitcom “Sent From Heaven” Ep61, due to the rumour of him being together with a female artiste, NaRa start to show her jealousy.

NaRa saw the posters and pictures of Young Saeng and the rumoured female artiste, start to feel jealous begin to vandalise the posters and pictures.

While sitting at a side, NaRa was mumbling angrily, Heo Young Saeng start to explain painstakingly, “GaBuLi! You are angry due to the rumours between me and the female artiste? Heo Young Saeng unveiled his new mini-album.

On 22 May 12am KST, Heo Young Saeng new mini-album "SOLO" was released thru various audio streaming sites. There are a total of 5 tracks in this album including the title track "CRYING". The title track "CRYING" is Heo Young Saeng 1st attempt after transforming into a solo singer. It is an R&B track which he wrote the lyrics which attracts everyone's attention.

The full MV which was released with the audio tracks at the same time was filmed in the outside shooting scene which also put a helicopter to complete the performance to give the sense of speed effect.

B2Ment stated that for this mini-album, various fans from Asia, Europe, America and Arab countries all flocked to pre-order the official album.

Heo Young Saeng will be having his 1st comeback stage at KBS 2TV Music Bank on 1 Jun.

After releasing a few teaser images for his solo comeback, SS501‘s Heo Young Saeng has unveiled a teaser clip for “Crying“!

The countdown for the May 22nd release of his second mini-album, ‘SOLO‘ has officially begun, and fans all over the world are already sharing their excitement and anticipation for his return through social network services.

‘SOLO’ has been revealed to be the complete production of Heo Young Saeng himself, having participated in the overall planning process and even its production. He’s looking to step up from an idol to an artist by having his name credited as the co-producer.

His title track, “Crying“, is described to be a medium pop R&B track about a man’s wish for his ex-lover to return.

Heo Young Saeng will make his comeback after debuting as a solo singer for 1 year.

Last year thru "Let It Go" successfully debuting as a solo singer, SS501 member Heo Young Saeng will meet his fans thru his new mini album "Solo".

Currently the KBS drama "Sent From Heaven" which is still broadcasting, Heo Young Saeng who is starring as Hallyu star Kakki, will be participating in the composing of lyrics for his title song "Crying" in his new mini album.

Together with the producer of SS501 and his own album, Steven Lee, they will create a song that describe a man who has lost his love and the inner feelings of wanting his love to be back as the theme for the song.

On the other hand, Heo Young Saeng new mini album teaser vid will be release tonight thru the official B2M YouTube channel and the domestic mainstream online audio sites.
